Apparently, these things made some pretty serious power for their displacement and their time.

How’s the van coming along? And do you still have the Crown Vic?

I got my 2 folding rigs fully up and running, one with a GTX 1650 (300K) and P106-90 (200K) and the other with a 1660 (600K) and P106. So 1.3 M total!

My points per day has taken a serious nose dive.  Not sure what’s up with it.

I’m not sure what’s going on with my servers. I haven’t had any shutdowns, but productivity was down over the last week.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve acc limated to my office being around 78° F. The rest of the house is around 73°, so I get a little chilly when I leave the office.

Also one of the first regular production cars to offer fuel injection to the public along with, IIRC, the Mercedes 300SL.

Still have the Vic. Van is in my friend’s equipment yard. The carburetor for Rusty is still with the troll in Tennessee and I’ve given up on ever getting it back. I still have the rear end to swap into the Vic. I haven’t managed but a couple of oil changes all summer.

I don’t think F@h will have cured cancer by the time the cooler months arrive. Fold then.

Works for me! I found you on a five-year-old submarine post the other night. Great reading, that post was. I learnt about Auto-dog.

It seems to fluctuate. Reboot once in a while. Longer game, it should stay up there.

I think the point production waxes and wanes. I want to assemble another machine, but let my employing school district supply the electrons.

Is the troll in TN the guy you had been talking to before who seemed to know all about these vans? Or was that another guy?

I’m curious how dependable they were.

Same guy. I love him but all he EVER does is goad me. And when I finally stood up and gently illustrated how stupid it all was, he turned downright mean. So I’ve just stopped writing him.

I saw that, Kinja was being Kinja and wouldn’t show me your reply, even though I got a notification that you replied. Tyler Rogoway had several good submarine posts on Jalopnik before he jumped ship and went to The Warzone (which is part of T he Drive).

I’m just happy my output is back over 1 million PPD.  It’s amazing to me that the 1660 does twice as much as the 1650.

Very finicky and with a steep learning curve for someone used to comparatively simpler carburetors, from what I've heard.

They were shyte. Really. The “Rochester” Fuel Injection system was wildly unreliable.

Oddly “true” fuelie cars (like original split windows) are so hard to find mainly because most people got sick of dealing with ‘em and just swapped to carbs. Sometimes people put the old Rochester unit in the attic, but usually they got made into beer cans.

That’s why I find the Bosch system, as picked up by Benz and Porsche in the 1960s , so interesting in the form of Jetronic. They got it to work soon after the Americans failed to perfect it. Don’t get me started on the early turbo Olds and Corvair models with boost ...

My mother had a Dodge Omni circa 1981 that had a Bosch fuel injection system in it thing ran quite well and got good gas mileage.

I suppose the advent of electronic controls helped a lot. I have a lot of CIS injection cars which still seem to run even with the fuse pulled... but not well
